Liviu PRUNARU
[Retour]Né en avril 1969, Liviu Prunaru est plongé dès son plus jeune âge dans une atmosphère musicale grâce à sa mère, altiste de l'Orchestre Philharmonique de Craiova. A six ans, il entre à l'école de musique de sa ville natale chez le Professeur Oprisan qui lui insuffle l'amour et le respect de son instrument, le violon. Encouragé et suivi par le Professeur Berhec puis Madame Mailat qui l'oriente, il quitte Craiova à 15 ans pour poursuivre ses études à Bucarest avec Madame Carpen. Au cours de cette période il remporte sept concours nationaux et le premier prix du concours international “Kocian” en Tchécoslovaquie. A 18 ans, il entre dans la classe du Professeur Comelia Bronzetti, remarquable violoniste. Il enrichit considérablement son repertoire et donne des concerts dans de nombreux centres musicaux de Roumanie.
1990 marque un changement définitif dans sa carrière, il rejoint la célèbre Académie Menuhin de Gstaad (Suisse), où il étudie auprès de Lord Yehudi Menuhin et de Maestro Alberto Lysy.
Liviu Prunaru se produit régulièrement comme soliste avec la Camerata Lysy. De plus il a été le soliste de grands orchestres comme le London Symphony Orchestra, le City of London Sinfonia, L'Orchestre National de Belgique, l'Orchestre Philharmonique d’Athènes ... collaborant avec des chefs tel que Lord Menuhin, Andrew Litton, Yuri Simonov ... Il a été invité dans de nombreux festivals: Festival Menuhin, Gstaad, Festival de Buenos Aires, Festivals de Flandres et d'Anvers, Festival Georges Enesco, Roumanie, "Le printemps musical" à Lugano, "Incontri in terra di Stena" ltalie. Il a joué sur demande pour le Pape et plus récemment, pour la Reine Elisabeth du Royaume-Uni, lors de la visite du chef d'état Nelson Mandela ainsi que pour de nombreuses autres personnalités.
Liviu Prunaru joue actuellement sur un Guarneri de 1676, ayant appartenu á Jan Kubelik. Depuis 2006 il est Konzertmeister du Koninklijk Concertgebouworkest au Concertgebouw d'Amsterdam. Liviu est également professeur de violon à l'Académie Menuhin de Gstaad.
Liviu Prunaru werd in 1969 geboren in Craiova, waar hij ook zijn eerste muzieklessen volgde. Hij vertrok op vijftienjarige leeftijd naar Boekarest om zich verder te scholen. Het jaar 1990 bracht voor Prunaru een definitieve wending in zijn carrière: hij begint dan te studeren aan de gerenommeerde Menuhin Academie van Gstaad, waar hij zich vervolledigt bij Lord Yehudi Menuhin en Meester Alberto Lysy. Hij beeïndigt zijn studies in de Juilliard School, waar hij Doroty DeLay assisteerde.
In 1991 wint hij de eerste Prijs van de Rodolfo Lipizerwedstrijd in Italië, in 1992 de vierde Prijs van de Carl Flesch International Competition in Londen en de eerste Prijs van het Renata Molinari concours in Gstaad. In 1993 behaalt hij de tweede Prijs, Prijs Eugène Ysaÿe, alsook de Publieksprijs van de Koningin Elisabethwedstrijd. Meer recent, in 1997, wint Liviu Prunaru de eerste Prijs van de internationale wedstrijd van Dong-A Ilbo in Seoul. Daarna, in 1998, behaalt hij nog de tweede Prijs van de International Violin Competition of Indianapolis. Het volgende jaar debuteert hij met de Juilliard Symphony na de eerste Prijs te winnen van de Juilliard Mendelssohn Competition. Eveneens in 1999 wint hij de eerste Prijs van de E. Nakamichi Wieniawski Violin Concerto Competition.
Liviu Prunaru treedt regelmatig op als solist met het Camerata Lysy. Bovendien is hij als solist gevraagd bij vermaarde orkesten als het London Symphony Orchestra, de City of London Sinfonia, het Nationaal Orkest van België en het Filharmonisch orkest van Athene. Hij heeft samengewerkt met dirigenten als Lord Menuhin, Andrew Litton, Yuri Simonov en werd uitgenodigd op talrijke festivals: Festival Menuhin (Gstaad), Festival de Buenos Aires, de Festivals van Vlaanderen en Antwerpen, Festival Georges Enesco (Roemenië), Le Printemps musical van Lugano, Incontri in terra di Stena in Italië, … Op aanvraag heeft Liviu Prunaru onder andere voor de paus opgetreden en voor Koningin Elizabeth van het Verenigd Koninkrijk tijdens een bezoek van Nelson Mandela.
Hij bespeelt momenteel een Guarneri uit 1676, die ooit heeft toebehoord aan Jan Kubelik, en is docent aan de Menuhin Academie van Gstaad. Sinds 2006 is hij concertmeester van het Koninklijk Concertgebouworkest in het Concertgebouw van Amsterdam.
Born in Craiova, Romania, Mr. Prunaru studied at the renowned Menuhin Academy of Gstaad, Switzerland and completed his professional studies at The Juilliard School where he was an assistant to Dorothy DeLay and actively participated in master classes with Itzhak Perlman. Currently a professor at the Menuhin Academy in Switzerland, Mr. Prunaru performs on a 1676 Guarneri violin graciously loaned to him by Professor M. Muller.
Mr. Prunaru has performed recitals in many of the world's major cultural centres and has been a featured soloist with orchestras including the Royal Philharmonic, the London Symphony, Belgium National, Bucharest Radio-Symphony, and the Puchon Philharmonic in Korea. His work has also been in demand at renowned festivals including the Menuhin, Brussels, Buenos Aires, Evian, Athens, and Salzburg festivals. Mr. Prunaru can be heard on CD with Camerata Lysy, as well as his own debut CD released by Pavane Records. He recently released a disc on the Swiss label Claves which includes the three violin concertos by Camille Saint-Saëns, accompanied by the Ensemble Orchestral de Paris, directed by Lawrence Foster.
Violinist Liviu Prunaru gained international recognition through his participation at several prestigious violin competitions winning Gold Medals at the Dong-A competition in Korea, the Rodolfo Lipizer in Italy, and the R. Molinari Violin Competition in Switzerland, in addition to a Silver Medal at the Queen Elisabeth Competition. He won the Silver Medal at the 1998 International Violin Competition of Indianapolis. After capturing First Grand Prizes at the E. Nakamichi Wieniawski Violin Competition and the Juilliard Mendelssohn Competition, Mr. Prunaru made his New York City debut in 1999 with the Juilliard Symphony at Alice Tully Hall.
